One service accepting new referrals with immediate availability that may interest you is Occupational Therapy (OT).
OT at DYO strives to help people optimise what they want to be and do at any moment in life, in their context. OT may assist you with meaningful Personalised Participation, Lifelong Learning and Wellbeing for those with a health condition, disability or rehabilitation need. Or anyone wanting to draw their optimal!
OT may help you with aging well and staying in the community, something we know most older people want, with both proactive and reactive services available.
Put simply, you don’t need to wait till there is a problem to get advice (Proact), and yet, we can assist if there has been a concern as well (React). We can tailor to each individual or group of individuals’ unique needs.
In more technical terms, OT can assist with:
Ageing in Place (means helping you stay at home and in the community),
Equipment / Assistive Technology,
Environmental and Home modifications,
Falls Prevention,
Education and Advice, Self-Management, Health Literacy,
Preoperative or Prevention Programs,
Disability Therapy Supports, Functional Capacity Assessments, Specialist Disability Accommodation and Supported Independent Living Assessments (SDA/SIL).
Second opinion advice including by telehealth.
Peer supervision, coaching and mentoring for clinicians.
We can tailor education sessions for you to increase health literacy, other group activities, or more if desired. We also can help you DIY to DYO – learn to do it yourself.
Services are available in the Brisbane, Redlands, Logan and Ipswich council areas. Areas further afield can be discussed. Telehealth is also available if preferable.
Various funding rebates may apply, including Medicare, Private Health, DVA, NDIS, and related to My Aged Care. We are happy to discuss to optimise your situation.
