Anyone looking to draw their optimal!
With proactive and reactive approaches, interprofessional collaborative practices, and holistic, person-centred, lived experience aware, informed choice and control.
One service accepting new referrals with immediate availability is Occupational Therapy (OT).
As the name suggests, DYO’s aim is not to be therapy centric, but to work with individuals, groups of individuals, and/or their chosen supports, with effectiveness and yet efficiency in mind. Striving to be alongside the person at the centre of their journey, while endeavouring to collaborate harmoniously with General Practitioners, Specialists, other health practitioners, disability, aged and/or other service professionals and providers, key liaison people, community groups and whoever else is desired to achieve the most optimal outcomes.
The symbolic logo for DYO is a simple three circle Venn diagram. Venn diagrams can be used to help think about what is same or different between two or more things, people or situations for example. This can assist in what unites, or is universal, and what is different, what may need to be differentiated, and even considered with your unique situation. Put simply, we are all different and yet more alike than not when looking through different lenses. Many conceptual health and wellbeing models use Venn diagrams to depict the complex interplay of factors that influence people. One example is the interplay of individual, task and environmental factors (both visible and invisible) that influence peoples’ participation, wellbeing and learning. DYO strives to explore and draw with you, optimisation in any or all of these domains.
The creators of DYO have diverse experiences across the sectors of health (from hospital to home to the community), disability, education and more, which led to the addition of the by-line of DYO - health, wellbeing, lifelong learning and personalised participation. Selected based on the eclectic and unique background and experiences of the creators, who, from years of being with people, have found wellbeing and quality of life to be more than just the state of one’s health, is highly personalised and holistic. Further, people learn about themselves and their needs lifelong, leading to a personal experience of meaningful participation at various stages and transitions in their lives. Learning is a powerful medicine for the brain. DYO hopes to assist people to learn to draw their optimal at any moment in time, striving for informed choice and control, building trusted relationships. With formal qualifications in the fields of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Neurological Physiotherapy, Education, Business Administration and training beyond in areas including but not limited to self-management, motivational interviewing, home modifications, equipment/assistive technology, disability, foundational sciences, philosophy, home education, inclusion, trauma informed, neurodiversity aware, cultural and religious awareness, communication and more. The fusion of the areas (or the bridging of the siloes) is what DYO hopes to bring to life in collaboration and co-design with the people they deliver their services to, and harmoniously with other allies as needed.
